WSJ’s Kissel: ‘The Trump Admin. Has Been Far Tougher on Russia... Than Any Prior Admin’

‘In particular, we’ve started to sanction Putin’s inner circle’

EXCERPT:

KISSEL: "It’s important to distinguish between President Trump’s rhetoric and his actions. Because the rhetoric this morning, for instance was very conciliatory, let's be friends, kumbaya, wouldn't that all be great? If we got along you got to rid of the nuclear weapons. The reality is that the Trump administration has been far tougher on Russia particularly in the sanctions arena than any prior administration. In particular, we’ve started to sanction Putin’s inner circle. This matters a lot because essentially Putin presides over a criminal gang and his power rests on two things, keeping the security services on his side and keeping the oligarchs of Russia on his side."
