John Thune: Dems Are Using Separation Issue to Score Political Points

‘What the president did was the right thing to do’

RUSH EXCERPT:

CAVUTO: "All right. You would think now with the president signing this executive order to end this program where they’re separating kids from their parents along the border, this will all go away. The aclu is intervening. A number of democratic congressmen says we have to go further to say there’s no incarceration of anyone from 100 miles of the border. That would be interesting. Let’s get a read on this from John Thune. Senator, it wasn’t not good enough for the president’s critics, the Republican critics, those that say the Republicans didn’t go far enough. What do you say?"
THUNE: "This is another example, Neil, of a lot of Democrats that are using this issue to score political points rather than come up with a solution. What the president did was the right thing to do. It was to say to the American people and all those that want to come to this country illegally, we’re going to enforce our laws but we’ll do it humanely. We’re going to keep families together. That was the executive order that he signed today. It’s in response to what we saw as an unintended consequence of the zero tolerance policy. Smart move on his part, but one that will probably never satisfy the Democrats. Like I said before, they see this as an issue and are more interested in using it as a political opportunity rather than come up with a real solution to the problem."
