Spike Lee Shreds Trump Over Charlottesville at Cannes: ‘That Motherf***er Did Not Denounce the Motherf***ing Klan’ (Mediaite)

Last night, legendary director Spike Lee debuted his film BlackkKlansman at the Cannes Film Festival. It received a standing ovation and apparently contains some very direct commentary about modern-day events, especially Charlottesville and the President’s response to it.

At a press conference after the screening of the film, Lee spoke about the decision in the context of President Donald Trump’s failure to denounce the white nationalists involved in the conflict.

“We have a guy in the White House — I’m not gonna say his fucking name — who defined that moment not just for Americans but the world, and that motherfucker was given the chance to say we are about love, not hate,” Lee said. “And that motherfucker did not denounce the motherfucking Klan, the alt-right, and those Nazis motherfuckers.”
