Charlie Hurt on GOP Request for Investigation of Comey, McCabe, Lynch: These Are Very Serious Charges

‘I think you have a lot of officials in DoJ who are very concerned about the reputation of the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice, and they should be’

EXCERPT:

HEMMER: "There is a swirl of allegations, nearly a dozen Republican lawmakers have written a letter to the Justice Department demanding a criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Andrew McCabe and more. I want to bring in Charlie Hurt, opinion editor at 'Washington Times' and a Fox News contributor. Charlie, good day to you."
HURT: "Good morning, Bill."
HEMMER: "We’ll try and follow the bouncing ball here. It can be complicated. Here is part of the letter."
HURT: "There are six bouncing balls."
HEMMER: "Yeah, six bouncing balls. Well here is just one, OK, for now: 'Because we believe that those in positions of high authority should be treated the same way as every other American, we want to be sure that the potential violations of law outlined below are vetted appropriately.' They want Comey, McCabe, Lynch, Clinton. They want all that information. How long is this thing going to go on?"
HURT: "Oh, I think it's going to on for quite a while, because --  I mean, the reason we’re here in the first place is because DoJ and FBI have been so diligent at sort of protecting their own tails and keeping information from winding up in Congress’s hands. You know, their argument would be, well, you know, Congress leaks worse than anybody. As soon as they reveal anything to Congress it gets out into the public. But the problem is you are talking about very serious issues here, you're talking about accusations, you know, among -- among several of the players here, not only about leaking and things like that, but also about pressure to end an investigation into the Clinton Foundation, for example -- that’s a serious, serious charge."
