MSNBC Host Grills DNC Spox: Is It Inappropriate to Use Race to Drive Turnout? (Mediaite)

This morning on MSNBC, host Craig Melvin pressed the Democratic Party’s Communications Director Mo Elleithee on whether using race to encourage African-American voter turnout for next week’s midterm elections is an appropriate strategy.

Democrats in Georgia and Arkansas distributed flyers warning of “another Ferguson” if African-Americans don’t vote, while Harry Reid’s Super PAC ran a radio ad in North Carolina saying GOP Senate candidate Thom Tillis supports the same law (“Stand Your Ground”) that resulted in the death of Trayvon Martin.

“Is using the issue of race like that to drive turnout, is that appropriate?” Melvin asked Elleithee.
