Ted Lieu: Trump’s Syria Strikes Are ‘Unconstitutional’

‘The attack last year had no effect on Assad, didn’t deter him because he used chemical weapons again’

EXCERPT:

LIEU: "Thank you, Richard, for your question. Having served in the U.S. military, I am not opposed to the use of force. But I am opposed to the unconstitutional use of force. Our Constitution does not allow the President to engage in acts of war without congressional authorization. And while Assad’s chemical weapons use was horrific, Congress never authorized the U.S. to attack a country that has not attacked us. This is further example of Donald Trump and his Administration not following the Constitution and not following the rule of law."
LUI: "Why is this attack different than the first attack he made?"
LIEU: "It is not. The attack last year was also unconstitutional."
