Christie Goes after CDC: Acting ‘Hyperbolic’ Because They Were ‘Wrong Before’ (Mediaite)

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie again appeared defiant over his decision to quarantine returning health care worker Kaci Hickox when she arrived at Newark International Airport over the weekend, telling the Today show Tuesday morning that his critics at the CDC were trying to CYA because of their mistakes containing the virus in Dallas.

“Asking [health care workers] to quarantine at home for twenty-one days I don’t think is draconian, and I think Dr. [Anthony] Fauci is responding, unfortunately, as are many of the people from the CDC, in a really hyperbolic way, because they’ve been wrong before,” Christie said. “And they’re not incrementally taking steps toward the policy that we put in effect in New Jersey and now six other states have put into effect and the Joint Chiefs put in effect. We’re all wrong and they’re right? We’re trying to be careful here.”
