Christie on Mandatory Ebola Quarantine in N.J., N.Y.: ‘This Is Government’s Job’ (National Review Online)

New Jersey governor Chris Christie defended his decision to impose a mandatory 21-day quarantine on health-care workers returning from West Africa againstcriticism from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci and others.

Asked by Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace if the decision meant that Christie didn’t trust the scientists at the Centers for Disease Control to establish the correct protocols, the governor responded, “The CDC protocols, as Dr. Fauci admitted himself, have been a moving target.”

“Imagine that you’re the person in charge of the health of people in a large, densely populated state,” Christie continued. “It was my conclusion that we needed to do this to protect the public health of the people of New Jersey, Governor Cuomo agreed, and now Mayor Emanuel agrees.”
