Kevin McCarthy: I Don’t Think GOP Bill To ‘Nullify’ Trump’s Tariffs Would Pass

‘I’m one who believes in free trade but fair trade’

EXCERPT:

KILMEADE: "He says I think there is a good chance that we will nullify his tariffs. A Republicans nullifying the president’s tariffs. Do you see that happening."
McCARTHY: "Well, what I see is -- I’m not quite sure when he said that. If he said that prior --"
KILMEADE: "That was Thursday."
McCARTHY: "-- well if he said that prior to the president coming out with his final decision. Remember, he put exemptions in there. And what the president is talking about it's not something new. He's talking about for quite some time. And what he is saying here is I’m concerned about China. They produce 59 percent of all the steel, 53 percent of all the aluminum and they are subsidizing it. So what he did was gave exemptions for Canada, for Mexico, for the our allies. So What he is really focusing is -- trying to focus on China. And so, I’m one who believes in free trade but fair trade. I think there is way that we can have both in this situation to really send a message to China. But I'd really like to look at the intelectual property of what China has been doing with the rest of the world as well. I think that's the place that this will sustain itself."
