Richardson: Trump ‘Made the Right Decision in Accepting the Summit Meeting’ with N. Korea

‘It’s obvious the president made this decision on the fly without consulting the secretary of state’

RUSH EXCERPT:

RICHARDSON: "The risk has been Kim Jong Un sets a trap for us and doesn’t fulfill his commitment. I think the president made the right decision in accepting the summit meeting. My worry is, the secretary of state statement and a statement he made earlier, it’s obvious the president made this decision on the fly without consulting the secretary of state. Come out without the department of defense knowing. This is the risk. The risk is that will go into the meeting. I support the meeting. I think it’s a game changer potentially. With her preparation, a strategy strategy, the strategy that the department of defense or department of state, I don’t think we have a strategy now. The president, and I’m not an advocate of the tweeting and calling him names and by your and fury. I do think the administration deserves credit for the sanctions, pushing China, pushing the U.N. That’s brought a bite. The big risk, Kim Jong il and wants to keep his weapons. We got to engage him not to do that. His missiles, his nuclear weapons, his artillery. I negotiated with these guys. They are tough. The president can’t just expect a typical photo off, a reality show, and apprentice, this is going to be a tough negotiation."
