This morning the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, really went on the offense here in Sacramento, laying out in very plain detail, various ways California, with its sanctuary policies, is breaking the law. The governor of California, Jerry Brown, having none of it, calling the Justice Department’s lawsuit against the state quote, a political stunt and even taking aim at this network. Brown saying the attorney general’s speech here this morning was, quote, more like Fox News than a law enforcement officer. Speaking at a breakfast with a number of California police officers, sessions said the Justice Department is suing the state because three newly enacted laws prevent federal immigration authorities from doing their job and violate the laws of the U.S. Constitution. He also blasted Oakland’s mayor for alerting the public last month that massive ICE raids were imminent and possibly helping some 800 illegal aliens wanted for crimes and immigration violations if captured.
