MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton, who frequently posts photos of himself on Instagram doing things likereading his own book or posing in front of other photos of himself, unexpectedly reveals in a new mini documentary that he loves the spotlight.

A the MSNBC.com production follows Sharpton around throughout his workday, which he says begins as early as 5 a.m. (“I don’t need an alarm clock. Purpose wakes me up”) and features Sharpton talking about his career trajectory from activists to cable news host.

Sharpton says “on a slow day” he hosts his radio show and his TV show, attends a rally or church and has meetings. “So, when people say to you Al Sharpton’s just trying to get a lot of attention and publicity, that’s exactly what I’m trying to do.”
