Hume: Obama Not Trying To ‘Defeat’ ISIS; He Wants To ‘Contain’ it Until After 2016

"What I think he [Obama] is trying to do is respond to the political pressures that were built by airing for the world to see the beheadings of two Americans, which frightened the American public, alarmed the American public and made it incumbent on him as a leader of a party facing a congressional election to do something to respond to this, which he has now done.

 He's stated the goal is the defeat of ISIS, but in the near term what he is doing seems much more in tune with a strategy that is aimed merely to contain ISIS until long after he is gone."
