Ted Cruz: ‘We Had a Very Productive Meeting’ with Trump on the Corn Industry

‘We were talking about the problem occurring, potentially tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of blue collar union jobs that are at risk across the country’

EXCERPT:

CRUZ: "I think it was a very positive and productive meeting. I brought a number of senators with me. We were talking about the problem that is occurring, potentially tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of blue-collar union jobs that are at risk in refineries across the country. In Texas, in Pennsylvania, all across the country. And they’re at risk because of a regulatory system that is broken down. Right now these refineries are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to buy these artificial credits that speculators have driven up to stratospheric costs. It doesn't make any sense. And this conversation was all about finding a win/win solution that saves the job of the blue-collar working class refinery workers. And at the same time, that helps corn farmers sell even more corn. I think there is a win/win solution and we had a very productive conversation toward that solution."
