Larry O’Connor on D.C. Dysfunction: ‘Every Senator Thinks They Should Be President’

‘And a lot of them are very resentful of the man in the White House right now’

Mediaite’s Larry O’Connor on D.C. Dysfunction: ‘Every Senator Thinks They Should be President’ (Mediaite)

Mediaite columnist Larry O’Connor said that GOP lawmakers can’t pull themselves together because everyone has their own self-interest in undermining President Donald Trump as a leader.

O’Connor spoke to Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney Thursday about how establishment Republicans and pro-Trump Republicans are stunting Congress with their ongoing fight for control over the legislature’s direction. Varney said Republicans stand at a point of “do-or-die” and O’Connor thought that Trump’s “big mistake” was in thinking that everyone in the Congressional GOP would live up to their word on repealing Obamacare and making things like tax reform happen.

“Boy is there a logjam at the Senate, and a big problem with that is pretty much every senator thinks they should be president, and a lot of them are very resentful of the man in the White House right now,” said O’Connor. “Sadly they don’t want to show any progress because they want to undermine Trump.”
