PURVIS: “In just one week a major party Affordable Care Act also known as ObamaCare will take effect and it will impact both individuals and businesses. KFOX 14 News at 5 and Melissa Gundersen is in East El Paso and where small business owner says he's been preparing for the change for months.”
GUNDERSEN: “Well the new legislation will mostly impact businesses with more than 50 employees. The Lunch Box had two locations here in El Paso and they fell under that category. The owner, Martin Rios, tells me he doesn't offer his employees health insurance benefits. When he first heard about the Affordable Care Act he looked into health-care [indecipherable]. Rios says the legislation cost him upwards of $250,000, meaning at the end of the day he would only be breaking even. He says to prepare for the change his family split the two locations, meaning each restaurant falls under different ownership. Now Rios says each restaurant has 48 employees, so he isn't required to provide health insurance benefits to his employees. The only downside -- ”
