Peter King: We Have to Have Extensive Surveillance Within the Muslim Community

‘We have to again not be politically correct, not worry about what people will say about us’

EXCERPT:

SMITH: "Congressman Peter King is on the Homeland Security Committee, he joins us now. Congressman, thank you for being here. Can you first respond to that suggestion that we’re playing whack-a-mole with trying to catch these terrorists?"
KING: "We have to do both. Obviously you have to try to capture them, you have to try and stop them and if something does occur you have to get them right after the fact. As far as the vetting I agree, we do have to have improved vetting, increased vetting. I believe President Trump has begun that process. Homeland Security Department is definitely stepping up the vetting. And we have to realize that people think it’s something inhumane if we start resisting allowing all refugees into the country. We know that ISIS wants to infiltrate the country with -- refugees. Obviously we are a nation of refugees but at the same time we have to very, very, very tight vetting. And we have countries like Syria, for instance, it’s very difficult to do that. So this is -- we have to have a full-court press all around. And that means working with our allies, I always said we have to have extensive surveillance within the Muslim community because that’s where the threat is coming from. And we have to -- again not be politically correct, not worry about what people are going to say about us. Our job is to save American lives."
