‘If the police hadn’t been there, there would have been violence’

RUSH EXCERPT:

MaCALLUM: "Here now an exclusive Ben Shapiro editor and editor in chief of daily wire.com. Do you think that, you know, any of the antifa folks or people who were, you know, very much against what you were there to do. Inside out arena. Did you think that?"
SHAPIRO: "Inside the arena. We were told there may have been antifa members in the crowd. They were not going to reveal themselves. Rules on the books cops enforcing if you put a mask on they were going to arrest you immediately. They like to infiltrate civilian crowds. They pop out put on mask doing so violent and pop back into the crowd. That’s the way they work. The cops weren’t having this last night. Tribute to the ph.d. For — pd.when they do their jobs."
MaCALLUM: "There were some arrests. Put up the pictures of the mug shots that were out there earlier and you tweeted about these young folks as well. There they are. Smiling young folks. Who got arrested, I think, for having some kind of weapon on them. I don’t know if it was a bring or, you know, it didn’t exactly describe did."
SHAPIRO: "The best that life has to offer. Obviously this is the cream of America. Apparently some were arrested for having sticks on the back of them. One person arrested for having some sort of baton in backpack. One was arrested for spitting on a police officer. The idea that if the police hadn’t been there, there would have been violence, I think that’s probably true given the fact that all of Berkeley was basically shut down. Businesses shutting early yesterday. There were bank of America actually boarded up its own atms because they were concerned that antifa was going to destroy the atms again. Antifa, again, they have been led by the city to believe that they rule the city. Last night was the first time that the police were actually allowed to engage in a show of force saying you don’t rule the city. If you try to violate the law we will arrest you. I talked to a bunch of police officers yesterday. They were really really happy that for the first time the leftist administration at Berkeley and in the city of Berkeley allowed them to do their jobs."
