MRC Parodies MSNBC ‘Lean Forward’ Ads with Chris Matthews ‘Lean Over’ Video

‘Well, I think we’re right on MSNBC, first of all’

Media watchdog charges MSNBC bias, 'Lean Forward' renamed 'Lean Over' (The Washington Examiner)

MSNBC and its stable of left-leaning news anchors who star in the cable network's "Lean Forward" publicity ads are getting a new PR campaign. But this one isn’t positive.

The conservative Media Research Center is launching a video series this morning that mocks the hosts with 1-2 minute videos composed of embarrassing clips that MRC told Secrets would “underscore how clueless and biased they are.”

“Hardball” host Chris Matthews gets top billing in the first video release.

The campaign is a parody of MSNBC’s “Lean Forward” campaign. MRC is renaming it “Lean Over,” and will have a Twitter hashtag to match: #LeanOver.

Subsequent videos will feature hosts Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz and others.

The #LeanOver campaign is focused on new media outlets, said Scooter Schaefer, director of MRC Social Media.

“We've all seen the MSNBC ‘Lean Forward’ commercials. The inspiration for our #LeanOver parody was to demonstrate the absurdity of MSNBC by simply showing folks clips of MSNBC hosts like Chris Matthews in action,” he told Secrets. “After all, nobody can do a better job making Chris Matthews sound like an unhinged liberal partisan than Chris Matthews.”
