“Number one: the mission to drive ISIS fighters away from the mountain has been successful, paving the way for tens of thousands to get out on their own. And number two, the refugees still on the mountain are in much better condition than previously assumed. In fact, some apparently want to stay on the mountain, believing it to be safer than going elsewhere. It’s welcome news for President Obama, who had been grappling with the possibility of having to send more U.S. forces to open up an escape route for those refugees or airlift them out of the area.”
