Red Cross: Our CEO’s $500K Salary Is in the Middle Range

EXCERPT:

JACKSON: "So, then given that you’re trying to keep costs low, has the Red Cross recently given any reconsideration to executive compensation packages?" 
DEFRANCIS: "Well, actually, our CEO is very much in the middle range of salaries for charities and, particularly, for a charity the size --" [crosstalk]
JACKSON: "Half a million dollars, which is -- you're saying it's the middle ground."
DEFRANCIS: "Yeah, $500 million, which obviously the most Americans --"
JACKSON: "It sounds like a ton of money."
DEFRANCIS: "It does. But there is -- you know, it’s really in the middle range. And -- and -- and she keeps that down and, by the way, our CEO gives a lot of her money back to the Red Cross in donations."
