Fox News: Illinois GOP Governor Signs ‘Sanctuary State’ Bill into Law

‘The governor of Illinois signing a bill into law barring a police from researching or detaining anybody based solely on their immigration status’

EXCERPT:

TOBIN: "Critics are saying this is an expansion beyond the sanctuary city concept, and Illinois with the Republicans governor just became a sanctuary state. The bill was signed by Governor Bruce Rauner yesterday. It prohibits local police from making an arrest based on immigration status and it mandates that local police ignore immigration detainers and says they can only hold an undocumented immigrant if a court order is obtained. Members of the Hispanic community were on hand as the bill was signed into, and there was representation from the Illinois law enforcement community. Governor Rauner said he consulted with local police before signing it."
