GOP Reps to Obama: We’ll Throw Support on Syria If You Fix Sequestration

‘Military cuts would affect Syria Strike’

GOP Representatives: We’ll Support Syria Strike if Obama Fixes Sequester (National Review)

Republican representatives Buck McKeon of California and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee indicated that they would be more likely to support President Obama’s request for authorization for military action in Syria if he “fixed” the cuts to defense caused by the sequester.

On CNN’s State of the Union this morning, McKeon repeatedly warned that if President Obama were to go ahead with the strikes, he would be trying to do “more with less” after a series of cuts to the military during his presidency. McKeon is chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

Both Blackburn and McKeon indicated that they would vote against authorization as it currently stands.
