Trevor Noah on GOP Approval of Trump’s ‘Both Sides’ Remarks: ‘Clearly No Cross that They Won’t Burn’

‘If so many of Trump’s supporters are willing to give Nazis the benefit of the doubt, then clearly anything goes’

Trevor Noah on GOP Approval of Trump’s ‘Both Sides’ Remarks: ‘Clearly No Cross that They Won’t Burn’ (Mediaite)

The Daily Show returned from break this evening and host Trevor Noahtook the opportunity to address the violence in Charlottesville for the first time. And, as expected, he took shots at President Donald Trump.Along with knocking the president for his “both sides” remarks, Noah took aim at Republican voters for largely embracing POTUS’s response.

After pointing out that he spent his vacation in South Africa and saw political strife, he noted that he came back to America to chill but it turned out he “left the Third World and landed in the Third Reich.”

Describing Trump as an “untrained failing Jedi Knight” over the president’s off-the-rails press conference last week, Noah also noted that last Tuesday’s presser was the second time Trump came to the defense of neo-Nazis. The host followed that up by mimicking Trump saying that he needed to raise his support for Nazis.

Noah ended the segment by mentioning poll results that show two-thirds of Republicans approve of the way Trump responded to Charlottesville, stating that one would think the president’s reaction “would be the straw that broke the came’s back.”

“Turns out the president’s party has a lot of camels,” Noah quipped.

The comedian joked about how this was like smelling a fart and saying “nicely done” before tearing into GOP voters for embracing the president’s moral equivalence.

“If so many of Trump’s supporters are willing to give Nazis the benefit of the doubt, then clearly anything goes,” he declared. “There is no line that they won’t cross and, clearly, no cross that they won’t burn.”
