Benson: The Obama Admin Didn’t View Russia as a Problem Until They Needed a Scapegoat for Election Loss

‘If the Obama team knew about these efforts as far back as 2014 and sort of soft peddled it or pushed it off to the side, this happened on their watch’

EXCERPT:

BENSON: "Well if they were nothing but proactive, they failed badly based on what happened, right? So I think that this new Politico story is a significant one, because it reinforces the sense among many Americans especially conservatives that the Obama administration and the Democrats really didn’t want to ruffle the feathers of Russia and didn't really view Russia as that much of a problem until they were seeking a scapegoat to explain away an election loss in a contest that they thought arrogantly it was going to be a layup for them. Then Hillary Clinton went down, Donald Trump won, and all of a sudden, they are casting about saying, we have to blame something, let’s go with Russia, Russia, Russia, look at this interference. I think the interference is very problematic and something that every American should be concerned about. But if the Obama team knew about these efforts as far back as 2014 and sort of soft peddled it or pushed it off to the side, I mean, this happened on their watch."
