Panetta: It Wouldn’t Be a ‘Very Smart Move’ for Trump to Fire Mueller

PANETTA: “I think it would be a very serious step for the president to take not only in terms of possibly raising further issues related to obstruction of justice similar to the firing of FBI director raise those same issues but in addition to that it is clear that the Congress has raised a number of stop signs saying don’t do this. If necessary if you take this step we will likely empower the special council to proceed under any event. I don’t think it would be a very smart move to do this at this point. I think it would be much better to do what the lawyers said today which is to fully cooperate with this investigation.”
