Earnest Sidesteps Question over Whether Dems Should Fundraise on Impeachment

‘I will leave it to Democratic strategists who have a much better sense than I do about the best way to raise money for their campaign committees’

Earnest Sidesteps Question over Whether Dems Should Fundraise on Impeachment (Mediaite)

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Commitee had some pretty huge fundraising numbers in the past few days, thanks to sounding the alarms about impeachment. And today at the White House press briefing, Press Secretary Josh Earnest avoided directly answering a question about whether Democrats should fundraise on this.

Republicans have charged that Democrats are more obsessed with impeachment than they are as part of a cynical attempt to gin up the base. Other times in today’s briefing, Earnest cited a number of Republicans who’ve floated impeachment and denied that anything he’s previously said on the subject was coordinated with the DCCC.

But when asked whether he would tell Democrats to stop fundraising on impeachment, he said, “I will leave it to Democratic strategists who have a much better sense than I do about the best way to raise money for their campaign committees.”
