Ryan: We Need to Sanction North Korea, Russia, Iran Because of What They’ve Done

EXCERPT:

RYAN: "The message coming from Congress on a bipartisan basis is these are hostile regimes and sanctions are warranted, sanctions are called for. And we want to make sure that they are tough sanctions, that they're durable sanctions.  And that’s why I think we -- it took us a while to figure this out, to come together, to get the policy right. There were some constitutional issues with the Senate, we got through those and we all agreed, we believe these tough hostile regimes deserve sanctions and this is -- this is the bipartisan compromise that produces that, and that’s why I think you've got this big vote count."
REPORTER: "Aren't you also saying 'no' to the president to --" [crosstalk] 
RYAN: "No, I think what we're saying is we are -- we need to sanction these resumes because of what they’ve done, whether it's North Korea, Iran, or Russia."
