“It’s part of a pattern,” former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday in response to the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).

At a Republican practice for an upcoming Congressional baseball game at a field in Alexandria, Va., a shooter fired dozens of shots at the Republicans, wounding Scalise and staffers – a tragedy Gingrich attributed to “an increasing intensity of hostility on the left.”

On college campuses, for example, students who support Trump say they have received threats – even death threats, Gingrich said.
