Joaquin Castro Suggests Paul Ryan and McConnell Have to Ask Trump to Step Aside

‘In Watergate, you had more checks and balances in that situation because the president’s party was not in power in Congress’

EXCERPT:

CASTRO: "You know, I posed the question months back, comparing the situation to Watergate. In Watergate, you had more checks and balances in that situation because the President’s party was not in power in Congress. The other party was in power. Ultimately, both parties together essentially asked the president to step aside. Here, you have a president of one party and a Congress of one party. Essentially, what I’m saying is that ultimately, people like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and other leaders within the President’s party are going to have to be willing to do the right thing when necessary. I think, quite honestly, this is one of those moments."
