Mayor de Blasio Loses Bet, Sings Awkward Version of ‘I Love L.A.’ on Jimmy Kimmel

‘We New Yorkers honor our bets’

Mayor de Blasio Loses Bet, Sings Awkward Version of ‘I Love L.A.’ on Kimmel (Mediaite)

This just might be the most uncomfortable rendition of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” ever. On last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio made good on a bet he had made with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti over the Stanley Cup Finals between the Rangers and the Kings. If the Rangers had won, Garcetti would have had to sing “New York, New York” but instead de Blasio appeared live via satellite to butcher lyrics like “We’re gonna ride it till we just can’t ride it no more.”

Garcetti sat on Jimmy Kimmel’s couch along with two of the Kings’ stars to watch de Blasio sing with members of New York City’s 52nd Street Project student chorus. “Mayor de Blasio, you look like a counselor at the worst camp ever,” Kimmel joked when it was mercifully over.
