John Bolton: When North Korea Hears Give up Your Nukes, They Hear ‘Give up Your Regime’

BOLTON: "The fact is that for 25 years now Republican and Democratic administrations alike have tried either to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons program through diplomacy and inducements or tried to coerce them to give up their nuclear weapons program through economic sanctions. It has all failed and it has failed for a reason, and that is the North Korean regime is never going to give up its nuclear weapons program or its ballistic missile program voluntarily. When we say to them, 'Give up your nukes,' what they hear is, 'Give up your regime and maybe your lives as well.' The nuclear weapons program is North Korea's ace in the hole. It is synonymous with the regime itself."
