Biography
Jo Ling Kent joined Fox Business Network (FBN) as a reporter in May 2013 and covers the global technology sector. Since joining the network, she has led reporting on the Alibaba IPO and interviewed technology heavyweights including Alibaba co-founder and executive chairman Jack Ma, Box CEO Aaron Levie and T-Mobile CEO John Legere. Prior to joining FBN, Kent served as an on-air reporter for NBC’s owned-and-operated station WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT. In this role she covered local businesses as a general assignment and investigative reporter. She was a member of the reporting team awarded a Peabody Award for coverage of the Newtown school shooting. Kent also covered the 2012 presidential campaign as an embedded reporter with NBC News. Before joining NBC, she covered the Chinese economy, human rights, Taiwan trade and environmental issues as an associate producer in CNN’s Beijing bureau. Kent also covered the Beijing Olympics, 2008 Taiwan elections, unrest in Tibet and the 2008 Sichuan earthquake as a web reporter for ABC News in China. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Peking University, Kent holds two Master’s degrees in international affairs, in addition to a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Rice University. She was a U.S. Fulbright Fellow to China, specializing in the effects of legal aid for underprivileged women in the criminal justice system under China’s preeminent activist lawyers. She originally hails from Minnesota and is fluent in Mandarin. She sits on the board of Minnesota YMCA Youth in Government.
