Biography

Laura Hettiger joined the KMOV team in August of 2012 as a reporter for News 4 This Morning. Laura can be found at almost any breaking news scene from 3:00 in the morning until noon.

Laura is excited to be back in her home city after spending a year at the NBC affiliate in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. During her time in the Low country, Laura covered anything from crime to politics to sports to hurricanes. The Illinois native got a taste of every part of the newsroom at WCBD: she was a reporter, producer, photographer and sports anchor. While she loved living close to the beach, it was Laura’s passion for the Midwest and her family that brought her back to St. Louis.

Laura is a proud alumna of the University of Illinois where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism and a Master’s degree in broadcast journalism. Laura originally went to Champaign-Urbana as a political science major and—following in her older sister’s footsteps—a cheerleader for the Fighting Illini. Unfortunately, a cheerleading accident at a basketball game tore apart her knee, but it turned out to be the best thing that’s ever happened to her. Laura knew if she could no longer play sports, she should be a sports reporter. Since then, she’s had stints at US Weekly Magazine, American Cheerleading Magazine and the Big Ten Network.

Now that she’s back closer to home, Laura can’t wait to spend more time with her family and friends. When not chasing a story, Laura enjoys running, shopping, watching sports or reality TV and playing with her dog, Charlie.
