gentles a Virginia mop ░░░░░░░░ two mom of two ░░░░░░░░ to viewers what s ░░░░░░░░ won governor Glenn Youngkin ░░░░░░░░ his fight with fairfax ░░░░░░░░ public schools What s ░░░░░░░░ Back in 2020 a ░░░░░░░░ was passed that said ░░░░░░░░ should be written by ░░░░░░░░ Virginia department of education ░░░░░░░░ would deal with transgender ░░░░░░░░ students So those policies ░░░░░░░░ drafted in 2021 Governor ░░░░░░░░ came in and drafted ░░░░░░░░ policies Those have been ░░░░░░░░ into place as of ░░░░░░░░ to 2023 The law ░░░░░░░░ that districts shall implement ░░░░░░░░ policies or policies that ░░░░░░░░ more comprehensive Unfortunately a ░░░░░░░░ of districts in Virginia ░░░░░░░░ refusing to do that ░░░░░░░░ so fairfax so basically ░░░░░░░░ policies say students must ░░░░░░░░ school facilities and bathrooms ░░░░░░░░ their biological sex and ░░░░░░░░ must get their parents ░░░░░░░░ if before changing their ░░░░░░░░ at school This is ░░░░░░░░ it s at They ░░░░░░░░ citing the 4th Amendment ░░░░░░░░ the 14th Amendment gives ░░░░░░░░ the fundamental right to ░░░░░░░░ the upbringing and educations ░░░░░░░░ their children But it ░░░░░░░░ fairfax and is your ░░░░░░░░ district ░░░░░░░░ just the 14th Amendment ░░░░░░░░ gives parents the right ░░░░░░░░ raise their children The ░░░░░░░░ code can specifically says ░░░░░░░░ children have the right ░░░░░░░░ direct the education upbringing ░░░░░░░░ health care of their ░░░░░░░░ This is state law ░░░░░░░░ these policies reflect the ░░░░░░░░ law and common sense ░░░░░░░░ course parents should be ░░░░░░░░ for the upbringing of ░░░░░░░░ children and of course ░░░░░░░░ should not keep secrets ░░░░░░░░ parents Schools should partner ░░░░░░░░ parents They are not ░░░░░░░░ themselves they re not ░░░░░░░░ guardians of the lacrosse ░░░░░░░░ the gym natics team ░░░░░░░░ team the competition So ░░░░░░░░ of those girls work ░░░░░░░░ hard to be able ░░░░░░░░ compete and be their ░░░░░░░░ and I love giving ░░░░░░░░ a chance to compete ░░░░░░░░ a fair way so ░░░░░░░░ they can strive to ░░░░░░░░ their best like all ░░░░░░░░ us Elizabeth what do ░░░░░░░░ think ginny I think ░░░░░░░░ we ve asked way ░░░░░░░░ much of young athletes ░░░░░░░░ peyton This is a ░░░░░░░░ woman who s had ░░░░░░░░ speak up because of ░░░░░░░░ horrific injury that she ░░░░░░░░ encountered and we know ░░░░░░░░ other young women like ░░░░░░░░ Gaines have been speaking ░░░░░░░░ as well Everyone should ░░░░░░░░ speaking up We should ░░░░░░░░ put it on their ░░░░░░░░ to say that biological ░░░░░░░░ should not be in ░░░░░░░░ s spaces in women ░░░░░░░░ sports in women s ░░░░░░░░ in women s prisons ░░░░░░░░ older women people of ░░░░░░░░ sexes need to be ░░░░░░░░ up and saying that ░░░░░░░░ are physical differences between ░░░░░░░░ and women and we ░░░░░░░░ to make it clear ░░░░░░░░ policies need to be ░░░░░░░░ in place to reflect ░░░░░░░░ Elizabeth well it s ░░░░░░░░ children getting injured right ░░░░░░░░ mean that s just ░░░░░░░░ Right So we re ░░░░░░░░ these young girls these ░░░░░░░░ women in unsafe positions ░░░░░░░░ then asking them to ░░░░░░░░ up for themselves when ░░░░░░░░ ve been injured That ░░░░░░░░ to stop There s ░░░░░░░░ much danger to what ░░░░░░░░ going on right now ░░░░░░░░ so these policies in ░░░░░░░░ do address the athletics ░░░░░░░░ what I think is ░░░░░░░░ important that we need ░░░░░░░░ recognize is that there ░░░░░░░░ a cascade effect that ░░░░░░░░ when students transition when ░░░░░░░░ have pronouns and names ░░░░░░░░ and that those are ░░░░░░░░ secret or endorsed by ░░░░░░░░ school Elizabeth
