Sanders on Manchin and Sinema: It’s Not Appropriate for Them to Slow Down Progress

COOPER Have you spoken ░░░░░░░░ Senator Manchin or Senator ░░░░░░░░ privately Do you know ░░░░░░░░ exactly they want when ░░░░░░░░ comes to an actual ░░░░░░░░ on the spending package ░░░░░░░░ they I mean everybody ░░░░░░░░ seem to be very ░░░░░░░░ on that obviously intentionally ░░░░░░░░ That s that s ░░░░░░░░ of the problem is ░░░░░░░░ know when you re ░░░░░░░░ you come forward You ░░░░░░░░ me what you want ░░░░░░░░ is what I want ░░░░░░░░ s see how we ░░░░░░░░ it out But I ░░░░░░░░ there has been a ░░░░░░░░ of frustration with both ░░░░░░░░ those senators in that ░░░░░░░░ have not come forward ░░░░░░░░ said you know This ░░░░░░░░ what I want This ░░░░░░░░ what my concern has ░░░░░░░░ You know they have ░░░░░░░░ in vague terms but ░░░░░░░░ haven t seen the ░░░░░░░░ that we need COOPER ░░░░░░░░ you really don t ░░░░░░░░ specifically what Sinema or ░░░░░░░░ want Sanders That is ░░░░░░░░ COOPER So I mean ░░░░░░░░ just looking at this ░░░░░░░░ the outside I mean ░░░░░░░░ have the Senate the ░░░░░░░░ and the White House ░░░░░░░░ might look at that ░░░░░░░░ say Wow that seems ░░░░░░░░ dysfunctional I mean does ░░░░░░░░ party bear some responsibility ░░░░░░░░ that they that everybody ░░░░░░░░ t been able to ░░░░░░░░ to a compromise Sanders ░░░░░░░░ look you know we ░░░░░░░░ control over the Senate ░░░░░░░░ s correct But I ░░░░░░░░ everybody understands it is ░░░░░░░░ 50 50 split with ░░░░░░░░ Vice President casting the ░░░░░░░░ vote We have control ░░░░░░░░ the House Nancy Pelosi ░░░░░░░░ a margin of three ░░░░░░░░ four votes So it ░░░░░░░░ very very tight I ░░░░░░░░ my frustration Anderson is ░░░░░░░░ necessarily the views of ░░░░░░░░ Manchin or Ms Sinema ░░░░░░░░ is that when you ░░░░░░░░ 48 people on one ░░░░░░░░ and the American people ░░░░░░░░ on the same side ░░░░░░░░ one or two people ░░░░░░░░ the other side you ░░░░░░░░ it is not appropriate ░░░░░░░░ think for those couple ░░░░░░░░ people to slow down ░░░░░░░░ They have a right ░░░░░░░░ be heard They have ░░░░░░░░ right to you know ░░░░░░░░ concessions That s what ░░░░░░░░ process is But you ░░░░░░░░ any member of the ░░░░░░░░ caucus myself anybody else ░░░░░░░░ believe in a Medicare ░░░░░░░░ All single payer program ░░░░░░░░ think the current healthcare ░░░░░░░░ is dysfunctional I could ░░░░░░░░ to Chuck Schumer tomorrow ░░░░░░░░ say Chuck I m ░░░░░░░░ voting for that bill ░░░░░░░░ you have Medicare for ░░░░░░░░ but that s not ░░░░░░░░ the caucus wants That ░░░░░░░░ be irresponsible So I ░░░░░░░░ at the end of ░░░░░░░░ day we are going ░░░░░░░░ have to come together ░░░░░░░░ what the American people ░░░░░░░░ and tell the American ░░░░░░░░ that yes this government ░░░░░░░░ capable of standing up ░░░░░░░░ powerful special interests and ░░░░░░░░ working — represent working families.”
