Ken Dilanian: Senate Report on Security Failures on Capitol Riot ‘Is Devastating’

SCARBOROUGH It s not ░░░░░░░░ we re never going ░░░░░░░░ be able to discover ░░░░░░░░ because there s not ░░░░░░░░ to be a bipartisan ░░░░░░░░ commission So I think ░░░░░░░░ need to look at ░░░░░░░░ information we have right ░░░░░░░░ and build on it ░░░░░░░░ that the FBI s ░░░░░░░░ the Senate will continue ░░░░░░░░ investigate the House will ░░░░░░░░ to investigate These investigations ░░░░░░░░ go on law enforcement ░░░░░░░░ go on So I ░░░░░░░░ it s important for ░░░░░░░░ Ken thanks so much ░░░░░░░░ being with us this ░░░░░░░░ We so greatly appreciate ░░░░░░░░ A couple of things ░░░░░░░░ out in my mind ░░░░░░░░ And again we didn ░░░░░░░░ get all the answers ░░░░░░░░ would want from a ░░░░░░░░ commission but a couple ░░░░░░░░ things that jumped out ░░░░░░░░ me and I m ░░░░░░░░ what your thoughts are ░░░░░░░░ the intel failure They ░░░░░░░░ had the warnings that ░░░░░░░░ attack was coming Capitol ░░░░░░░░ police officers who are ░░░░░░░░ semi intel unit in ░░░░░░░░ and did not pass ░░░░░░░░ on to superiors You ░░░░░░░░ had the question about ░░░░░░░░ National Guard I think ░░░░░░░░ the fact that The ░░░░░░░░ Guard had been burned ░░░░░░░░ when Trump had ordered ░░░░░░░░ in during the Black ░░░░░░░░ Matter protests the previous ░░░░░░░░ and were feeling burned ░░░░░░░░ that And that may ░░░░░░░░ caused some of their ░░░░░░░░ to jump out and ░░░░░░░░ up to the Capitol ░░░░░░░░ again the anguished cries ░░░░░░░░ the officer Does anybody ░░░░░░░░ a plan Does anybody ░░░░░░░░ a plan Nobody seemed ░░░░░░░░ have a plan for ░░░░░░░░ Ken DILANIAN Good morning ░░░░░░░░ That s right I ░░░░░░░░ you guys laid it ░░░░░░░░ really well This was ░░░░░░░░ incredibly frustrating and infuriating ░░░░░░░░ both for what s ░░░░░░░░ it and also what ░░░░░░░░ not in it Because ░░░░░░░░ you said Joe one ░░░░░░░░ the themes of this ░░░░░░░░ was there was a ░░░░░░░░ intelligence failure here Which ░░░░░░░░ the way none of ░░░░░░░░ agencies acknowledged They dispute ░░░░░░░░ there was an intelligence ░░░░░░░░ But this report lays ░░░░░░░░ out very clearly It ░░░░░░░░ A key contributing factor ░░░░░░░░ the tragic events of ░░░░░░░░ 6th was the failure ░░░░░░░░ the intelligence community to ░░░░░░░░ analyze assess and disseminate ░░░░░░░░ to law enforcement regarding ░░░░░░░░ potential for violence and ░░░░░░░░ known threats to the ░░░░░░░░ But here s the ░░░░░░░░ Joe While this report ░░░░░░░░ I ll get into ░░░░░░░░ does a fantastic job ░░░░░░░░ explaining what the Capitol ░░░░░░░░ knew because the Capitol ░░░░░░░░ falls under their jurisdiction ░░░░░░░░ they were able to ░░░░░░░░ e mails and internal ░░░░░░░░ and interview key participants ░░░░░░░░ report sheds very little ░░░░░░░░ light on what was ░░░░░░░░ on inside the FBI ░░░░░░░░ DHS and what intelligence ░░░░░░░░ gathered and what threats ░░░░░░░░ knew about And instead ░░░░░░░░ simply relies on the ░░░░░░░░ testimony we already saw ░░░░░░░░ key FBI and DHS ░░░░░░░░ before this committee And ░░░░░░░░ it s clear there ░░░░░░░░ an intelligence failure on ░░░░░░░░ part of not only ░░░░░░░░ Capitol Police but these ░░░░░░░░ agencies But the report ░░░░░░░░ they re hamstrung because ░░░░░░░░ Justice Department and DHS ░░░░░░░░ not fulfill all of ░░░░░░░░ information requests because it ░░░░░░░░ in a commission with ░░░░░░░░ kind of sweeping subpoena ░░░░░░░░ they just didn t ░░░░░░░░ access to this Now ░░░░░░░░ they will down the ░░░░░░░░ we hope they do ░░░░░░░░ that to me is ░░░░░░░░ infuriating omission Now on ░░░░░░░░ Capitol Police front man ░░░░░░░░ s a devastating report ░░░░░░░░ it really shows that ░░░░░░░░ example the reporting that ░░░░░░░░ News did about this ░░░░░░░░ called the donald win ░░░░░░░░ people for weeks before ░░░░░░░░ 6th were talking about ░░░░░░░░ tunnels around the Capitol ░░░░░░░░ maps talking about their ░░░░░░░░ to rush the perimeter ░░░░░░░░ about attacking the Capitol ░░░░░░░░ Capitol Police knew about ░░░░░░░░ This report shows that ░░░░░░░░ FBI passed that on ░░░░░░░░ the Capitol Police but ░░░░░░░░ did not circulate it ░░░░░░░░ their rank and file ░░░░░░░░ And it really portrays ░░░░░░░░ situation where the rank ░░░░░░░░ file was left out ░░░░░░░░ dry And there are ░░░░░░░░ harrowing quotes from individual ░░░░░░░░ who spoke to the ░░░░░░░░ and let me just ░░░░░░░░ one of them to ░░░░░░░░ I was horrified that ░░░░░░░░ deputy chief or above ░░░░░░░░ on the radio helping ░░░░░░░░ For hours the screams ░░░░░░░░ the radio were horrific ░░░░░░░░ sights were unimaginable and ░░░░░░░░ was a complete loss ░░░░░░░░ control For hours no ░░░░░░░░ or above took command ░░░░░░░░ control Officers were begging ░░░░░░░░ pleading for help for ░░░░░░░░ triage Joe there was ░░░░░░░░ lack of leadership on ░░░░░░░░ part of the Capitol ░░░░░░░░ And Yolanda Pittman who ░░░░░░░░ the acting chief was ░░░░░░░░ charge of the intelligence ░░░░░░░░ in the weeks leading ░░░░░░░░ to the Capitol, guys.”
