NATO Secy General: We Have Been Successful ‘Because We Have Been Able to Adapt’

‘We are a successful alliance because we have been able to adapt to change, and the world is changing’

EXCERPT:

STOLTENBERG: "This has been the meeting as been planned for several weeks. Because it's regular routine that secretary general of NATO meets the heads of states and presidents in the different NATO allied countries, including of course, the United States. And we are preparing for a meeting of all the 28 leaders of NATO allied countries in Brussels in May. So this is part of the preparations for that meeting. The important thing with NATO is that we are a successful alliance because we have been able to adapt to change, and the world is changing. And now we see more turmoil [indecipherable] with ISIL/Daesh terrorism and we see a more assertive Russia to the east and NATO is adapting by implementing the biggest reinforcement of collective defenses since the Cold War but at the same time stepping up our efforts to fight international [ties]."
