Graham: Obama Administration ‘Got What They Wanted’ in Iraq (National Review Online)

The claim that the Obama administration was not able to leave residual forces in Iraq is “absolutely a lie,” according to Senator Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.). The Iraqi president Nouri al-Maliki and the government were willing to accept an American force, but the Obama administration was insistent on withdrawing troops, and is ultimately to blame for the worsening situation in the country.

“They got what they wanted — the Obama administration wanted to say, ‘I ended the war in Iraq; I’m going to end the war in Afghanistan,’” he said on State of the Union. “This was as predictable as the sun rising in the East.”
