Thune: Trump Needs to Ask ‘Hard Questions’ of the Chinese, Especially on North Korea

‘What they’re doing to assist and enable this kind of behavior from North Korea’

EXCERPT:

THUNE: "I -- I think, Mark, that the levers that we have, of course, there are financial and economic levers. There are in the area of cyber and electronic warfare, those types of levers. Obviously, we have THAAD missiles defense -- defense systems available in that region. But I think more than anything else right now, the president needs to jut weigh in and ask hard questions of the Chinese about what they’re doing to assist and enable this kind of behavior from North Korea. And I think that that’s one issue that’s got to be addressed. I think there a lot of other economic issues, trade, IP protections, et cetera that ought to be a part of this discussion. But it really starts front and center with North Korea, China’s role in enabling that behavior and -- and the discussion about what some of our options are in terms of responding to it."
