Cummings: If MLK Were Here Today, He’d Be Disappointed Seeing ‘White Supremacist’ Bannon in the W.H.

‘When we see a guy like Bannon who is, as far as I’m concerned, a white supremacist type person, sitting in the White House, sitting in the White House and I’m paying his salary, I think he would be very disappointed’

EXCERPT:

CUMMINGS: "I think that we are in a — I think that if Dr. King were here, and I guess that’s the best way to answer that, I think he would be a bit disappointed. In a way he would have been pleased to have seen the first African-American elected president, to have seen many doors opened for people like me and others who now have opportunities that would not have had them back then. But at the same time, when we see a guy like Bannon who is, as far as I’m concerned, a white supremacist type person, sitting in the White House and I’m paying his salary, I think he would be very disappointed. I think he would be disappointed with all the hate talk that we are hearing now, and the climate that we find ourselves in. But at the same time, as a preacher, I believe that he would have a sense of hope because he would realize that we’ve been through these battles before."
