Spicer: We Don’t Want the Government to Shut Down But We Want to Fund the Gov’ts Priorities

‘I think we want to maintain some of the spending priorities, as well as some of the reductions in the 2017 budget’

EXCERPT:

SPICER: "But I think that we want both. I think we want to maintain some of the spending priorities, as well as some of the reductions in the 2017 budget. We want to do so responsibly and do so within the priorities that the President’s laid out. I think his funding requests and priorities are laid out in the budget that Director Mulvaney detailed and sent up for the remainder of 2017. There’s some key things in that. And I think that it is going to begin a conversation that we will continue to have with the House and Senate. But I don’t think both of those goals are mutually exclusive. Obviously we don’t want the government to shut down, but we want to make sure that we’re funding the priorities of the government."
