Rove: Trump Needs to Find Where He Can Work with Dems But They’ll Still Oppose Him

‘Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are highly partisan, their Democrat colleagues are angry over last fall’s election’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
ROVE: "Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are highly partisan. Their Democrat colleagues are angry over last fall’s election. While the president can find common ground with Democrats, it will tend to be on narrow issues and will have to have the mindset that he will divorce his activities with them on those issues from the rest of his relationship with continue. It’s analogous to 2001. Democrats were really angry with bush. Bush focused on finding some Democrats, George Millner the house, Ted Kennedy in the Senate who agreed on federal monies that went to education. The result was no child left behind. Those two guys were against the president on everything else including tax cuts, judges. Bush divorced his relationship with them on that issue from everything else. President Trump will need to do the same thing. Find the area where he can work with some Democrats on some things, but recognize that’s not going to bring down their opposition to him on a whole host of fronts."
