DNC Chairman Calls Trump Travel Ban ‘Unconstitutional,’ But Can’t Explain Why

‘This doesn’t make America safer’

EXCERPT:

PEREZ: “The Democrats are fighting for core American values. We now have a second set of judges that struck down the unconstitutional ban. We now -- you look -- if you --” [crosstalk]
BARTIROMO: “But is that political? Is that all political?"
PEREZ: “No, hell no! When you violate the Constitution --”
BARTIROMO: “How is it a violation of the Constitution?"
PEREZ: "Oh my goodness!"
BARTIROMO: "First of all the 6 countries that list came from President Obama."
PEREZ: “But ask the Republican judge you who struck it down the first time. And you will see Republican and Democratic judges the second time. This doesn’t make America safer, and it doesn’t make our democracy any better. That is why judges, Republican appointees and Democratic appointees are striking it down. That is why -- this president should have vetted his own nominees.”
BARTIROMO: “How could he? How could he do a better job the first time around when the Democrats did not confirm his nominees for his cabinet?”
PEREZ: “Democrats don’t -- Maria, Democrats don't do the vetting for appointees; the Republican administration, it's their responsibility.”
