Limbaugh: There Has Been A Sabotage Effort To Undermine Trump Administration (RealClearPolitics)

Rush Limbaugh opened his show Monday morning with a monologue commenting on the developing situation in which President Trump is accusing President Obama of spying on him during the election campaign. Trump alleges that Obama tapped: "my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!"

"It is kind of unsettling. You don't want to think these kinds of things happen, but they do," he said about the allegations of illegal spying. "This is a war that is going to result in somebody winning and somebody losing --within a political context of course. What's new about this one is we have a Republican president for the first time in my lifetime, fighting back."

Rush explained his view of what the president is thinking when he sent the tweets Saturday: "I can't substantiate this as it goes to motive, but I think part of what President Trump is doing by tweeting that President Obama wiretapped him. I think he is not just tweeting to the American public and the news media, I think Trump confounds these people because he is always a step or two ahead, he plays the long game. And I think in addition to whatever else these tweets are intended to accomplish, it is also a direct line to the Democrats, to the Obama administration. Trump is signaling that they don't face the usual feckless bunch of opponents who never fight you back. You've got me here and if you're going to keep lying about me, I'm not going to sit here and take it."
