Sen. Hirono: ‘I Have Not Called for Sessions’ Resignation, Though I Would Welcome’ It

‘I voted against his confirmation’

EXCERPT:

HIRONO: "Well, I -- I have not called for his resignation, although I would welcome his resignation. After all, I voted against his confirmation. And one of the major reasons I voted against his confirmation was I questioned the -- his independence from the president. Yes, he needs to come back before the Judiciary Committee and respond to our questions under oath. But the focus really should continue to be on the Russian interference with our elections and our democracy. And I just want to add, Hallie, I find it incredibly inconsistent that candidate Trump kept talking about massive voter fraud with no factual basis for that and yet, when there is a factual basis for interference with our elections, Russian interference with our elections, President Trump shows no interest in getting to the bottom of it. I -- I find that incredibly inconsistent."
