Matthews: ‘This Is an Administration Being Driven By the Truth That’s Coming from Somewhere Else’

‘This is a strong case of the press causing the public to know the truth when the people in elected power aren’t telling them the truth’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:

MATTHEWS: "The news is marching. What I think voters don’t like, right, left and center, is rolling disclosure. That is the phenomenon where politicians admit to things once they’re exposed but never a day before. The recusal comes the day the “Washington Post” and “New York Times” reports what’s going on with this attorney general. He recused himself when he was caught. Now we find out there were meetings Jared Kushner was privy to, in fact present at, involving Flynn and the Russians and never told Donald Trump at the time they were covering for him and saying he hadn’t met with the Russians at the time when they weren’t even telling the vice president. So Kushner knew. Apparently his father-in-law knew. Flynn knew and they weren’t admitting it to the public. Maybe coverup is too strong a word but we’re only learning the truth of the endless meetings with the Russians because of good reporting. We’re getting great print coverage by the hour. That’s the only reason this administration is admitting things. Trump didn’t act on Flynn until it was exposed by the press. The attorney general didn’t recuse himself until today because the report ran in today’s newspapers. This is an administration being driven by truth that’s coming from somewhere else. The truth. This is a strong case of the press causing the public to know the truth when the people in elected power aren’t telling them the truth."
