HIMES: "A well, this is all part of the larger effort president Trump is doing to try to isolate and attack all of those whose job is fundamentally to get at the truth. And let’s face it, I understand that he’s called the media the enemy of the people. There’s a reason that freedom of the press is the first amendment to the Constitution because it’s essential to a functioning democracy. Though the media doesn’t get it right all of the time, their job, by the way, like the FBI’s job, like the CIA’s job is fundamentally about getting to the truth. But the truth is so poisonous to this administration that they will continue to try to raise doubts and to isolate and to criticize anyone around them who speaks the truth."
