Politico’s Sherman: Almost Like There’s Two ‘Parallel Tracks’ of a Presidency with Trump and Pence

‘You have Donald Trump kind of doing his thing and the White House on Twitter frequently and you have Pence and others top officials touting typical Republican lines’

EXCERPT:

SHERMAN: “And General Mattis was in Baghdad the other day and said we are not here to take your oil. Mike Pence was at the E.U. where he said we'll continue to work with the E.U., we'll continue to support the alliance. It almost does seem and struck me this morning when we were putting together the playbook that, you know, Mike Pence is the one who is going to St. Louis today to talk about the economy at a factory in St. Louis and not the president. So it’s -- it's almost like there is these paralleled tracks of -- of a presidency basically where you have Donald Trump kind of doing his thing and the White House on Twitter frequently, and you have Pence and others top officials out there touting typical Republican lines kind of unlike anything -- and certainly Peter, could speak to this better, but unlike anything we have seen in -- in recent history.”
