State Dep’t: Ukraine Election ‘Successful’

‘There were attempts to disrupt in parts of Ukraine. We will look at what that means’

State Dept: Ukraine Election ‘Successful’ (Washington Free Beacon)

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki suggested that the United States may still consider sanctions against Russia over attempted disruptions of Ukraine’s recent elections.

At a briefing this afternoon, Psaki avoided directly answering questions about possible sanctions, but eventually admitted “There were attempts to disrupt in parts of Ukraine. We will look at what that means, and if it means anything in terms of a next round of sanctions.”

Psaki maintained, however, that although disruptions occurred, they did not invalidate the elections and “we feel this was a successful election.”
